ColourPop Hocus Pocus Collection!

No comments :

I was lucky enough to snag what I wanted from the Hocus Pocus collection when ColourPop released it (a day later than originally planned, but we won't talk about how I, like many other people, sat and waited trying to refresh their website for over an hour before they announced it wasn't working and they would push it back a day)!

First, I got the Gliterally Obsessed glitters. The packaging on these is so, so cute!! If you are unfamiliar with these, they are basically a gel loaded with glitter that you can use on your body (I do NOT recommend putting these anywhere near your eyes) or you can also use it in your hair!
The jars have Binx on the lid - I mean, how much cuter can they get?!
"Another Glorious Morning" is a peach holographic glitter and "Amok, Amok, Amok, Amok!" is a purply base with rainbow holographic glitter. There's so many different colors and sizes of glitter in each of these that it's hard to describe, but you can see how gorgeous they both are!
I'm not sure they're supposed to be scented, but they smell a bit like watermelon to me. I do have one other Gliterally Obsessed from a while back, and that one never smelled like anything, so I'm not sure if they changed their formula or what.
Next up is the Come, Little Children creme gel liner set.
The packaging, again, is super cute. It's got eyeballs all over the outside.
Trick or Treat is a deep metallic berry.
Black Flame Candle is a metallic olive.
Sistas! is a metallic brick red. This one is definitely my favorite and the most unique! The formula on these is awesome - it glides smooth and clean, and is super easy to apply. My absolute favorite formula for a twist-up liner like this!

Last but not least we have the Gather Round Sisters palette. This is such a great blend of fall colors, it's the perfect fall palette to me. I'm going to end up keeping the box it came in, because it looks like this:
Then the palette itself has this on the front:
And 15 beautiful colors on the inside:
I love the artwork on the inside as well - super fun caricatures of Mary, Winifred and Sarah.
But you all want to see swatches, right? Let's get to it!
Full moon is a pale cream yellow with silver micro sparkles.
Hello, Salem is a matte pale rosy taupe.
Brew Potion is a gold glitter with bronze base.
On Toast is a matte medium brown.
Coven is a matte warm brown with champagne, gold and silver sparkles.
Come Little Children is a light satin taupe with silver sparkle.
Tis' Firm is a metallic crimson.
Thackery Binx is a deep violet.
Yabbos is a metallic golden olive.
I Call It A Bus is a matte black base with orange, purple and green micro sparkles.
Wench is a icy silvery taupe.
Night of Frolic is a matte deep maroon.
Dead Man's Toe is a matte deep violet berry.
Bewitched is a matte olive green.
Goodbye Cruel World is a shimmery purply-toned brown.

I Call It A Bus is absolutely my favorite shade in here. If you could embody Halloween in an eyeshadow, this is it. Black with orange, green and purple sparkles? Heck yeah! Night of Frolic and Dead Man's Toe are gorgeous shades of berry - they swatch a little messy but they perform well on the eyes. I find Tis' Firm, Thackery Binx and Yabbos are a little more hard pressed in the pans than any of the others, but they are still awesomely pigmented. I love love love this palette especially because it came out at the perfect time of year!

ColourPop Disney Villains Collection

No comments :
I picked up a few things from the ColourPop Disney Villains collection, so I figured it might be better to put everything into this one post rather than review the items separately. I picked up the Misunderstood eyeshadow palette, the Ursula collection, the Just Your Voice Jelly Much eyeshadow, and the Do I Look Like I Care Glitterally Obsessed.

This is the first Glitterally Obsessed glitter I've tried, and I've gotta say, I am impressed! It is essentially a thick glitter paste that dries down and becomes pretty budge-proof, but still is easy to remove. This one is described as a multi-dimensional silver with a coppery rose gold flip. It's got so much glitter packed in, some holographic, and so many colors it's absolutely GORGEOUS! It does say that it is for body use only, so that is definitely worth noting. It's got all different sizes of glitter in it, so I would use it with extreme caution if you're putting it anywhere near the eyes.
I tried to get it from a few different angles so you could see how pretty it is!

I also had never tried a Jelly Much shadow before, so Just Your Voice is my first! I have never been a big fan of cream or gel-type shadows, but this formula is really nice. It does feel sticky at first, but dries down and doesn't crease. The color itself is a black base with a shimmery turquoise shift. Really cool!

Now the mini sets come with a highlighter, lipstick and Ultra Glossy Lip. The Ursula highlighter is called Poor Unfortunate Souls:
It is a pale shimmery iridescent lavender that gives the skin a really nice glow. Definitely looks more purply in the pan than it does on the skin, but that's not a huge deal to me because if it were more purple on my face I think it'd look odd!

The Ultra Glossy Lip in this collection is called Sad But True. It's a clear gloss with a blue iridescence that really shows up better over a dark lipstick.
The gloss smells like vanilla cake and has a nice little brush tip applicator.
This is the first gloss I've tried from them, and I really like it! It wears for a good amount of time without being too sticky.

The Lux Lipstick in the Ursula Collection is called Ursula, and it is a matte blackened plum shade.
I love darker colors like this for the fall, so I'm not sure how much use I'll get out of it right now. But I love this formula! It's very comfortable and not drying. It also glides on nice and smooth.

Now for the eyeshadow palette:
This is a 15 pan palette and it's got a great color selection! The first row to me is pretty neutral, then we've got some color, and the bottom row is all darks/jewel tones.

First row from left to right is:
No Spots - matte white
Mongrels - metallic champagne pink
Diablo - metallic lime
Devious - matte terracotta
Tragic - matte soft beige

Underworld - metallic bronzey copper
Pain & Panic - metallic gold with pink flecks
Forest of Thorns - shimmery orchid
Flotsam - metallic pale pink with blue glitters
The Fates - matte deep blue

Revenge - deep black with silver glitter
Sing - metallic dark brown with hot pink/gold duochrome sparkles
Jetsam - metallic blue-black with teal shift
Facile - metallic deep olive green with gold flecks
101 - matte charcoal

I've reviewed so many ColourPop palettes at this point that I don't know what else to say - I always love them! The Pain & Panic shade feels sort of gritty with those pink glitters in it, but it doesn't seem to hurt its performance. That's really the only thing that stands out to me as anything negative. The 101 color is described on the ColourPop site as a matte black, but it's definitely more gray than black. Other than that, everything applies and blends beautifully! I really like that there's a little something for any look in this palette. There's enough matte and neutral shades for a minimalistic daytime look, and then you have the really sparkly dark shades for a fancy night time eye! Definitely pick this one up if you're a fan of the colors - they won't disappoint!

Lime Crime Diamond Dew in Pixie

No comments :
The Lime Crime Diamond Dew Liquid Glitter Eyeshadows were very intriguing to me, so I knew I had to try at least one. I went for Pixie, which is a pale purply pink with a greenish duochrome. Lots of sparkle and dimension to this color!

I have a love/hate relationship with this product. The outer packaging is a cool iridescent box, similar to the packaging that their Hi-Lite palettes come in. The component itself is a little jar with a doefoot-like applicator.
The applicator has an indentation in the middle, that really doesn't make a difference. While the product doesn't crease, it doesn't really work well if you're just using it on its own. It's very sheer and shows up best over darker colors. Of course I can only speak for this shade, but there's no "dark" shades of this product yet, as they're all meant to be toppers.

I find that I need to use my fingers, otherwise the applicator just wants to wipe off any shadow that I'm applying this on top of. If you lightly tap it where you want it with your finger, you're good. I do love the sparkle that this gives, so it is pretty! It dries down pretty quickly, but be careful not to open your eye all the way until it does, otherwise it will transfer to the top of your eye, where you don't want it (especially if your eyes are hooded!)

The thing I dislike most is the way it's packaged. The little wand is not going to be able to reach all of the product, so once it stops picking up, I'm going to have to remove that rubber stopper to get to the rest of the product, which I'm sure will cause it to dry up sooner than it should. The concept behind this product is great, I just wish they had done different packaging. Honestly, a squeeze tube would have been better.

Here's a couple of swatches to show how gorgeous this is:
I think I'm going to try it as a super sparkly highlighter on my cheekbones, because it would definitely work well for that! I love that it doesn't crease - I've worn it all day long on several occasions and haven't had any issues yet.

Kat Von D Everasting Glimmer Veil in Thunderstruck

No comments :
I have been obsessed with these glittery lip toppers lately, so when I heard that Kat Von D was coming out with her Glimmer Veils, I was super excited! I decided to pick up Thunderstruck, which is one of the colors I figured would look good over ANY color lipstick.

If you're getting Thunderstruck thinking it's the same as its eyeshadow counterpart, it's not. The eyeshadow is sort of a pink iridescent duochrome, where the lip topper is more of a peachy gold with gold and pink sparkle in it. Still gorgeous, just not the same color at all.

I love the packaging because you can see the color right through the name - I appreciate that, because if I have more than one color of the same product, it always makes it easier to find the one you want when the color is easily seen from the outside.

The doe foot applicator is large, super soft, and has a bit of a dip in it to hug your lips. While I like it, it is a little large to get very precise with. I usually end up using a lip brush to get the inner corners of my lips.

The formula is AWESOME. There is no scent to it at all. It feels very wet at first when you apply it, but dries down pretty quickly and sets to a smudge-proof, comfortable finish. I get several hours of wear with this and find I only need to touch up if I've eaten something oily. I LOVE this over cranberry lipsticks, and I think that is going to be my go-to fall lip!

Here it is, with and without flash:

I want ALL the colors, because I love this one so much! You can get them from Sephora and katvondbeauty.com.

Urban Decay Vice Special Effects Lip Topcoat in White Lie

No comments :
I was super interested in trying the new lip toppers from Urban Decay, because I loved the Lime Crime ones so much. When reviews started popping up, I couldn't find any positive ones, which worried me a bit. I decided to grab one anyway, and I picked White Lie because I figured that would be one that goes well with pretty much any color you want to pair with it (it's just an iridescent sparkle).

The main issue I have with this product is the applicator. I've read that this can be used as eyeliner as well, and this tiny brush would be fine for that, but it just doesn't work well for the lip application. It makes it apply streaky, and you have to keep dipping into the product to get it to work. What I do is take the product right on my finger and just tap it onto my lips - that seems to work best for me.
This is a green-blue iridescent shift, and it's absolutely gorgeous. It does look kind of weird just wearing it alone on my lips, but it's gorgeous over lipsticks. If you apply it when your lips are a bit chapped, it burns like crazy - so I don't recommend doing that! It dries pretty quickly and sets like a matte lipstick does, so you don't have to worry about the glitter flaking off everywhere. It's kiss-proof as well, which I absolutely love. I have found that when you apply it over lipstick with the applicator, it wants to take off the lipstick that's underneath. This is another reason that I've found it's better to tap it onto your lips!

Here it is alone on my lips. I personally think it looks a little weird on me like this, but I know a lot of people could pull it off! As you can see, it doesn't get all streaky when I just tap it on with my finger.

Here it is over UD's Firebird (left) and Blackmail (right). It picks up more of the blue sparkles over Firebird, and more of the green sparkles over Blackmail. I really like that there's so many possibilities and color combinations with this one!

I should also mention that these have no scent at all. I really liked how the Diamond Crushers are strawberry scented, because scent in lip products is always nice (for me anyway!) but these will be great for those who hate any scent in their lipsticks.

All in all, I really enjoy White Lie. It looks great over every lip color I've paired it with so far, and it lasts for hours before needing to be re-applied. The one thing I would definitely change about it is the applicator, but other than that this is pretty great!
