Urban Decay Vice Special Effects Lip Topcoat in White Lie

No comments :
I was super interested in trying the new lip toppers from Urban Decay, because I loved the Lime Crime ones so much. When reviews started popping up, I couldn't find any positive ones, which worried me a bit. I decided to grab one anyway, and I picked White Lie because I figured that would be one that goes well with pretty much any color you want to pair with it (it's just an iridescent sparkle).

The main issue I have with this product is the applicator. I've read that this can be used as eyeliner as well, and this tiny brush would be fine for that, but it just doesn't work well for the lip application. It makes it apply streaky, and you have to keep dipping into the product to get it to work. What I do is take the product right on my finger and just tap it onto my lips - that seems to work best for me.
This is a green-blue iridescent shift, and it's absolutely gorgeous. It does look kind of weird just wearing it alone on my lips, but it's gorgeous over lipsticks. If you apply it when your lips are a bit chapped, it burns like crazy - so I don't recommend doing that! It dries pretty quickly and sets like a matte lipstick does, so you don't have to worry about the glitter flaking off everywhere. It's kiss-proof as well, which I absolutely love. I have found that when you apply it over lipstick with the applicator, it wants to take off the lipstick that's underneath. This is another reason that I've found it's better to tap it onto your lips!

Here it is alone on my lips. I personally think it looks a little weird on me like this, but I know a lot of people could pull it off! As you can see, it doesn't get all streaky when I just tap it on with my finger.

Here it is over UD's Firebird (left) and Blackmail (right). It picks up more of the blue sparkles over Firebird, and more of the green sparkles over Blackmail. I really like that there's so many possibilities and color combinations with this one!

I should also mention that these have no scent at all. I really liked how the Diamond Crushers are strawberry scented, because scent in lip products is always nice (for me anyway!) but these will be great for those who hate any scent in their lipsticks.

All in all, I really enjoy White Lie. It looks great over every lip color I've paired it with so far, and it lasts for hours before needing to be re-applied. The one thing I would definitely change about it is the applicator, but other than that this is pretty great!
