Jeffree Star Skin Frost in Onyx Ice

I don't know why this is marketed as a highlighter. It's essentially a gigantic eyeshadow. I don't know how this would work on the face at all, other than for Halloween looks. However, it is a really pretty shade for dark smokey eyes, and the formula of the Skin Frosts I've found work much better as shadows than as highlighters.

The only other shade I have is Ice Cold, and I've said it before, but the formula just wants to sit on top of the skin and not blend very well. It's got such a dimethicone-y feel to it that it just wants to slide around. For that reason, I don't find myself ever reaching for Ice Cold as a highlighter because it's just a pain in the you-know-what to work with on the face. I was hoping that maybe the formula had improved, but Onyx Ice is more of the same.
It comes in the same bright pink giant compact as the other Skin Frosts, but I would have LOVED to see this in a black one, since it's the "Halloween highlighter."
Now with my criticisms out of the way, I have to say that I really like this as an eyeshadow. I've worn it a few times all over my lid and used a matte black to blend out the edges, and it makes a really dark, dramatic smoky eye. Here it is with flash, finger swatch on the left and blended out on the right:
And then with no flash:
It is a dark black with rainbow shimmer in it. It is incredibly pigmented, as is Ice Cold, it's just not the greatest formula for blending. That's why I like them so much more as shadows, because you can use another shade with it to help it out. Using them this way makes it so that it's more of one shadow color than any one person will ever need, but something about the fact that it was the "Halloween" color and limited edition made the makeup addict/Halloween lover in me just have to rush and get it lol.

So final thoughts, just like with Ice Cold: not totally useless, but I wish they would change the formula so that it's more ... powdery? I don't know if that's the right word, but these highlighters have just got way too much of something in it that's making them want to slide around on top of the skin instead of blending out easily and not looking so harsh.
