MAC Magic Dust Powders for Holiday 2016 from the Nutcracker Sweet Collection - Yum Yum Yum and Sweet Vision

No comments :
MAC's holiday collection this year didn't wow me, and to be honest I hadn't seen much of it before it was even released, but I happened to see the two Magic Dust Powders and loved the look of them. Luckily, when I went on Bloomingdale's, they weren't sold out of anything yet (they are still available at the time of me writing this) and I was able to snag them.

First off, the packaging is bright pink and maroon with metallic gold inside, and I love that combination. It doesn't scream "holidays" to me, but it's pretty nonetheless. The boxes that they came in are covered in stars, and both powders have star imprints all over them.
On the left is Yum Yum Yum, and on the right is Sweet Vision. The formulas on these are like day and night. While they're supposed to be more of a highlighting product, they are both very much blushes on my skin tone. I find Yum Yum Yum to be very dry and harder to build, while Sweet Vision is super soft and very pigmented. Luckily, Yum Yum Yum ends up applying easier with a brush and is buildable on the cheeks. I was a bit worried it might be like the ombre blushes they has a while back that were just super hard and impossible to get any pigmentation out of them.
Here is Yum Yum Yum with a heavier swatch on the left and then blended out on the right:
You can see how light it is, and that was with a couple of dips into the product. It's definitely more sheer, and none of the little sparkles that you see in the pan transfer to the skin.

Now Sweet Vision:
I love this as a blush so much. It's more of a summery color for me, but it's just gorgeous. It's a peach with a strong gold sheen to it. When I so use this as a blush, I find that I don't really need a highlighter with it because this gives such a beautiful glow to the cheeks. It's so much easier to apply than Yum Yum Yum, so this is definitely the winner for me.

Did you pick anything up from the Nutcracker Sweet collection? Let me know in the comments!
