Benefit They're Real! Push-Up Liner

No comments :
When I saw that they had a code for a free sample of Benefit's new They're Real! Push-Up Liner at Sephora, I jumped on it because I was ordering something anyway! This is one of those things that people seem to be disliking for the most part, so while it intrigued me, I didn't want to commit to buying the full size if I wasn't going to like it. Let's find out how it is, in my opinion ...

First, you have to start by clicking the bottom a million times to get the product to come out of the pen. The design is pretty unique, which is probably what intrigued me about this.
When you first get it, there's a little orange stopper on the tip:
The tip itself is very flexible and rubbery:
The problem is, the product doesn't glide on easily. It wants to be like a clump when you go to draw your liner on, which makes for very bumpy, not-so-smooth looking lines. I think this is something that would be great if the formula was a little thinner, but it's just SO hard to work with!

It is very black, very pigmented, and a little of it goes a long way. It also is really long lasting, but is extremely hard to get off. I can't use makeup wipes, I absolutely have to use my Hard Candy Take It Off makeup remover, or I can't get it to budge.

I do think that the shape of the pen and the tip of it is nice for getting right up to your lash line, and it also makes it easy to draw the wing (though the product doesn't want to cooperate!) So again, it goes back to the fact that maybe if the formula was a little thinner, this would be great.

Here's one of my attempts at using it:
Not HORRIBLE, but that jaggedness along the top of the line drives me nuts. Naturally, you could use this and go over it with another liner, but that's a hassle! Why do that? I expect a product to work the way it's intended, and to look nice when it's done. This was a bummer because it has a lot of potential, it just didn't deliver.

I talk more about the liner in my haul video:
