Did we really need another brand of Balm Stain? Probably not. But at any rate, when new stuff comes out I like to try it and form my own opinions. Wet n' Wild recently came out with their version of the chubby balm stain pencils, and I picked up the color "Rico Mauve" purely for the name silliness!
This color ends up being a mauvey deep pink on my lips. I definitely like it. It's also in a twist-up tube so there's no need to sharpen it. The formula, however, pales in comparison to other balm stains, like Revlon which are my favorite from the drugstore. This has a much slicker texture and doesn't last nearly as long on the lips as other brands I've tried.
I don't know if it's just me, but I feel a little bit of a tingle sensation with this, kind of like what you get with Buxom lip products.
It gives a nice shine to the lips, but that doesn't last all that long either. All in all I think that the product is nice for the price, but there are much better balm stains at the drugstores.
I also talk more about the balm stain in this video:
