First Impressions: Maybelline Color Elixir in Blush Essence

No comments :
Finally! Sometimes being a beauty blogger/makeup lover really can drive a girl nuts when new products come out and you go nuts looking everywhere for them. This was one of those - the Maybelline Color Elixirs. The packaging is cool because it looks like a lipstick inside, but it's actually liquid/gloss inside.

I only bought one shade, because I was worried these would be like the L'Oreal glossy stains from a while back - I hated how those were patchy and just...weird. They didn't give you any pigmentation unless you got the dark shades which I just wasn't into. So to make a long story short, these are TOTALLY different.

I got the shade Blush Essence, which is a nice light pink.
The wand is kind of funky, but serves its purpose. The product is very creamy and feels nice and moisturizing on the lips. It smells like vanilla, but once its on your lips has a more fragrant/perfume scent to it - it's not really bothersome, but if you're sensitive to scents in lip products you may not like this for that reason.

I didn't inspect all the shades closely enough, so I'm not sure if they're all shimmery. This one has shimmer but it's super-micro shimmer so it's not frosty or anything. It gives a really pretty effect to your lips.
Not the most pigmented color I could have picked, but it's nice! I think I will get a couple more of these because I like them so much. There's a violet one I'm pretty curious about, so I may have to add that to my list of things to get.

For anyone like me who was speculating that these might be like the L'Oreal glossy stains, rest assured they are not! Totally different everything. These are a thicker consistency. They aren't sticky at all. They don't go on patchy. And I really would classify them as a liquid lipstick, not a stain at all. This shade wears for quite a while without losing its shine! I'm pretty sure these will be permanent, so if you haven't found them yet, don't worry. They're starting to pop up in displays at drugstores now!

I'm wearing the Color Elixir and showing it in this video:
