Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers - Celestial, Nude Eclipse, Apocalyptic

No comments :
I couldn't find these anywhere yet so I ended up getting them from drugstore.com for $5.49 - that was the cheapest I found them for online. I had been wanting to try these ever since hearing about how awesome they are, I think sometime last year. You see, these were out in the UK first and they were called something different - Apocalips. Everyone raved about how great they were so when I heard they were hitting the US under a different name I was really excited to see what the hype was about! The packaging is cute - the tops of the caps look like gemstones.

I got 3 colors - Celestial, Nude Eclipse, and Apocalyptic.
Celestial is a nice medium pink, close to my lip color but just gives them a kick. Nude Eclipse is a nice nude that doesn't make me look too washed out like some nudes can do - it's not super light so it works well with my skintone. And Apocalyptic is a fun, hot pink color. All of these were just one small swipe of the applicator. Can you see the crazy pigmentation?!
The best way to describe them is that they are literally like melted down lipstick in lipgloss packaging. For some reason I didn't take a picture of the applicator like I usually do, but it's just an elongated doe foot. A little goes a long way, which I like in a product because it means it will last longer. There are a few shimmer colors in the line, but all the ones I got are creams. I am finding the older I get, the less and less I like shimmery lipsticks. The wear time is great on these as well - about 4 hours before you see fading/need a touch-up. They start off glossy but after a while look like they are more of a matte finish. They aren't kiss-proof which is a bummer, but they fade evenly and don't leave weird streaks on your lips. I experienced a little bit of drying but nothing too bad. I've been wearing them with gloss on top just to keep the shine longer and to help any dryness that may occur.

The scent may get to some people, however. I heard a lot of people say it smells like plastic/chemicals but honestly, to me it smells exactly like the Freeman's Cucumber Face Mask. Really weird, I know. If you smell the two right next to each other, I swear it's uncanny. So if you enjoy cucumber I'm sure this won't bother you at all!

Here's a shot of the 3 colors in better lighting - again, that's just one small swipe of the applicator to get that much pigmentation, it's nuts! Definitely a top drug store liquid lipstick, that's for sure! I believe there are 14 shades all together and from what I can tell by the swatches on drugstore.com, only 4 of them are shimmery - the rest are creams. So if you want to check them out, you can see them all here!
