Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette

No comments :
It's here! The much-anticipated Shade & Light Contour Palette is now available at Sephora, and it's a beauty. At the time I ordered this, the contour and highlight brush wasn't yet available, so that will have to be a separate review! For now, here is the palette.

Don't go by the colors on the back of the box, as they look nothing like the actual shades for some reason. This is just to show you the packaging:

This palette is the same size as her last 3 palettes, and that same cardboard with magnetic closure type layout. You get 3 highlight shades and 3 contour shades.

Lucid, a pink toned cream:
Lyric, a yellow toned cream:
Levitation, a warm peach:
Lucid, Lyric, Levitation:
Lucid is pink toned, Lyric is yellow toned, and Levitation is too peach for me to use as a highlight. It will definitely work on darker skin tones, but I just can't pull it off. Lucid and Lyric work well for me, however. Lucid is my go-to highlight shade, while I've found Lyric to be an awesome under eye concealer setting powder!

Sombre, a cool grayish brown:
Shadowplay, a warm brown:
Subconscious, a deep brown:
Sombre, Shadowplay, Subconscious:
I think these each pair well with their respective highlight shades. Sombre and Shadowplay work well for me but Subconscious is a bit too dark for me to pull off. Again, it will for sure work for darker skin tones.

I think this is a great palette to have because there are so many possibilities with it. It's also great to have if you do makeup on other people, because it gives you options to play with. All the powders in here are matte, so there is no shimmer in the highlight shades. With that, if I feel like adding a shimmery highlight, which I usually do, I'll just go over the highlight powder with one of my shimmery highlighters in the places where I want it.

The powders have a smooth, blendable formula that is similar to her powder foundations. I have really been enjoying it and would recommend it for anyone interested in a contour palette! This is available now for $46 at Sephora.

If you would like to see my video review as well as a demo of me using it on myself at the end, you can check it out here:
