NYX Butter Lipstick in Taffy
The Butter Lipstick line from NYX has been out for a while now, but they recently launched a bunch of new colors for spring. I still hadn't tried any, so I decided to get the color Taffy when I placed my last NYX order.
We all know NYX doesn't have the best swatches on their site. I'm always weary of ordering when I haven't seen a product for myself, just because you can't be sure of the color until you receive it. On their site, Taffy is described as a pink mauve and looks nowhere near as bright as it really is.
Nevertheless, it is a pretty bright pink that ended up being close to a lot of other lipsticks that I own.
Another thing with this lipstick is it didn't impress me at all. I've heard so many raves about the Butter Lipsticks, and I love the Butter Glosses. I just don't see anything special about this. For the name, I expected it to be much more moisturizing. It didn't have excellent wear time either, as it tends to fade after an hour or so on me.
If you can tell from the pictures (top with flash, bottom without), it's also one that likes to collect in your lip lines as it fades. Not a cute look.
In an effort to try and get it to work better, I applied the Butter Gloss in Merengue over it, and not only was it a perfect match, but it made the lipstick last longer as well. So I will say by itself the Butter Lipstick isn't the greatest, but it is workable. Since I like the Butter Glosses better anyway, it just seemed like a good fit to use the two of them together!
