Not long ago I expressed my disappointment in the Maybelline Baby Skin and how there's no way I can use it as a primer because all it does is make my makeup slide around, and it does nothing for my pores. Well, enter the Rimmel Stay Matte primer, which I received from Influenster in a bonus box recently. If you are oily and Baby Skin didn't work for you, I highly, highly recommend this one! Let me tell you why...
The Stay Matte Primer is the perfect companion for their Stay Matte Foundation, because the two together give you a pretty bulletproof matte face all day long. However, if you are a dry skin type you may dislike the stuff. I have a few friends that hated the foundation because they didn't like the way it clung to their dry skin. With the primer, you can tell as soon as you put it on that it mattifies instantly. I'm always shiny when I get out of the shower after washing my face and then moisturizing. If I do my makeup right away and start with this primer, the shine is instantly gone. I would definitely recommend it for oily skins!!
It comes in a squeeze tube just like the foundation does. The product itself is a thick white cream:
It honestly feels like a moisturizer when you rub it in. It doesn't have any scent to it, which is good if you're sensitive to smells in face products. You can, of course, use it by itself (if you feel your skin while it's on, it feels silky smooth!) but it's put to its full potential under your makeup. As I said, I would recommend using it with the Stay Matte Foundation if you like a nice matte look that lasts all day, but it works well under anything, even just a face powder.
The most impressive part about this stuff? I actually notice a difference in my pores, unlike with the Baby Skin. Here is a picture of my bare skin on my cheek where my pores are most visible (try to ignore the redness and dryness, I've been sick!):
And here it is with just the primer:
It's not the hugest difference, and is hard to capture in photos, but I can definitely tell it does make a little difference. I have been loving this stuff and just have to say that Rimmel stuff has been pretty awesome lately! I didn't like their BB Cream, wasn't good for me, but they just came out with Matte BB Creams which may be better for my skin type? Anyway, I hope that this review was helpful for you guys, and remember to follow on Bloglovin' for more updates and reviews!
