My friends, here we have another "YouTube made me buy it" product. This is one that I kept seeing everyone rave about and kept saying to myself "what is so great about it? It's your average champagne shadow. You truly have to see this one in person to appreciate it, because it has so much sparkle and is just so pretty. Out of the 4 shades from this collection, this is definitely the must-have!
Mississippi Mermaid is an odd name for it, usually I think any color with "mermaid" in the title would be a teal-y color, or green-with-gold-shift type color, but this one is the total opposite:
It is a sandy golden beige color with a peach sheen to it, and I can tell you right now it's really hard to capture how pretty it is on camera. If you haven't seen this in person yet, you're probably sitting there like I was, saying "what's the big deal?" lol
The shadow itself is smooth and blendable. I've noticed NARS shadows can really vary in texture and quality, but this is a really nice one.
Here it is swatched with no flash:
And with flash:
As you can see, more of the peachy tones come out with the flash on it. I have been using this color like crazy, either as an inner corner highlight or an all-over lid color. It goes with pretty much everything and I do mean everything. You can pair it with everything from shades of browns for a neutral look to purples, blues, greens, etc. You can pretty much use this on the inner half of your lid and then use any other colors you want because I haven't found any color yet that doesn't look fabulous with this shadow!
