Covergirl Flamed Out Eyeshadow Pots

2 comments :
The drugstore brands have really been stepping up their game lately. L'oreal has me indatuated with the Infallible shadows, and Maybelline has the Color Tattoo Shadows. I love both of those products dearly. So I was excited to see the new stuff Covergirl came out with. The first product I'll be reviewing are the new Flamed Out Eyeshadow Pots. I am a little disappointed because their displays show these awesome bright colors on Pink, and they're never in the displays I see. I know for a fact there is supposed to be a red and a lime green shadow because I've seen other bloggers review them, but I couldn't find those so I picked up the brown, black, and purple ones. The same thing happened to me with the Ink It! liners which I will review in a separate post - the display showed a gorgeous turquoise color but it was nowhere to be found - there wasn't even a spot for it because the display was full! I guess it just depends on the store/region maybe?

These colors don't have names, which is a bit annoying. They just have numbers on the back - 355 if a shimmery brown, 300 is a black with silver shimmer and 340 is a shimmery light purple.

The colors surprised me pigmentation-wise. They are far better than the regular Covergirl shadows. They aren't incredibly smooth, but they are pretty easy to blend. I saw a few people comparing them to the L'Oreal Infallible shadows, which isn't a decent comparison. These are just dry, pressed shadows - nothing like the semi-pressed consistency of the Infallibles. I think the brown shade is my favorite of the three - it's just a shimmery, rich brown that is super pigmented in one swipe. I got the black mainly for testing purposes - you can always tell the quality by how pigmented a black is, and I was surprised that it didn't come out gray and chalky (most drugstore blacks end up that way!) And the purple was probably the big shocker, since so many drugstore purples I have tried fall short of other shadows in their respective makeup lines because they all seem to be poorly pigmented. Even the Maybelline Color Tattoos, which I LOVE, have a sucky purple. So it was nice to see that this one applies true to the color in the pot.

All in all, I'd say these are worth trying out one or two if you're curious, but they're nothing special and definitely not an OMG I NEED IT product!

I mention these here:

    1. No prob! I was excited I found them, and now every store I've seen them in just has the neutrals, they don't have the red or green. There's supposed to be red and green shadow pencils to go with them too, but no luck finding those either!
