Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palettes in Ludwig and Beethoven

No comments :
Okay, so these palettes are old - as a matter of fact, they are the first ones that came out in the Kat Von D line. I held off on these because I was always buying the limited edition ones, but my Sephora recently had these on clearance for $17, so I figured I had better pick them up. They are still $34 on the website, so I don't know what's going on with that...I think it's a case of them needing room to put in her blushes, trios, and other new stuff so they marked them down to get rid of them. At any rate, I now own all of the Kat Von D eyeshadow palettes and I was thinking about going back and doing reviews/swatches of the ones I haven't done on here yet (which is probably most of them, as I wasn't as involved with my blog posting back when I got them all as I am now lol)

The Ludwig and Beethoven palettes both have the same rose design on the front of them. This was back when the palettes came with the little good-for-nothing brushes, but we won't talk about those lol! Now her newer palettes come with an eyeliner instead, which I get a lot more use out of.

Ludwig is a nice mix of neutrals and green shades. From left to right is:
Lucifer - matte black
Orbi - army green with gold shimmer
Dimebag - pale shimmery green
Tequila - shimmery champagne
Clay - matte peach, more powdery formula than the other shades
Downtown - shimmery golden light brown
Baroque - shimmery medium brown
Leather - matte dark brown

You can really see the shimmer come out in the shimmery shades with the camera flash. They are all swatched without a base, so you can see how pigmented they are!

Now for the Beethoven palette. This one is a bit more smokey/dramatic.
From left to right:
Lucifer - matte black
Speed Blue - shimmery navy blue with iridescence (mine was broken and I had to re-press it!)
Razor Gray - shimmery medium gray
Tequila - shimmery champagne
Sinner - plum purple with slight shimmer
Rad Purple - blue toned purple with pinkish purple glitter
Leather - dark matte brown
Galeano - purplish taupe with a slight shimmer

Lucifer, Tequila, and Leather are shades that are in both palettes. This is probably because they work so well with any look and are pretty much staple colors. Tequila is a perfect shimmery highlight, Lucifer is one of the most pigmented black shadows I've ever owned and is perfect for outer corner/crease darkening, and Leather is a smooth, creamy matte brown that is perfect for any neutral eye look.

There are so many looks that can be done with these palettes, it's insane! If your Sephora happens to have them on clearance I definitely suggest picking them up!
